Synopsis
‘Gabriela,’ a gifted young swimmer, navigates the turbulent currents of her undocumented status, cultural dislocation in the American South, and the weight of ancestral heritage, ultimately finding her power and sense of belonging in the one place she feels truly free: the water.

The Challenge
With a grant provided by Netflix and the LA Latino Film Festival, we were tasked with delivering a high-concept short film in just 4 months. The goal being to embark on a successful festival run.
THE SOLUTION
We secured additional funding via private equity and grants. Curated acting and production talent to ensure the production ran smoothly. And cut down the film from 25 to 16 minutes in order to qualify for additional festivals.
THE IMPACT
Over 50 festivals screened the film including Atlanta, LALIFF and Regard. Qualified for the Academy Awards, received a Telly Award for Best Directing. Achieved distribution on Tele-Quebec and is in process to be distributed on two major streaming platforms – Netflix and HBO Max.
